At NorthStar Pharmacies, our independent prescribing pharmacists are specially trained to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication for a wide range of conditions — offering care similar to that provided by a GP. With same-day access to prescription treatments and no need for a GP appointment, getting expert clinical support has never been easier. Whether you need help with a new condition or a review of your regular medication, our team delivers professional, convenient care in your local community pharmacy.

Quick access: Speak to our pharmacist in-store for an assessment and treatment plan where clinically appropriate.

What Is an Independent Prescribing Pharmacist?

An independent prescribing pharmacist is a specially qualified pharmacist who has completed additional training to assess, diagnose, and prescribe prescription-only medication. Similar to a GP, they can manage a wide range of conditions and provide treatment without the need for a separate doctor’s appointment.

Independent prescribers work within their area of clinical competence, following the same prescribing guidelines as GPs. They can review ongoing treatment, access patient records where appropriate, and refer patients for further care if needed.
